Goodbye FaceBook

No More Facebook page for John B Nevin

Aside from the individuals with whom I am eternally connected, I must prioritize assets over liabilities. In this case, my FaceBook profile is deleted. More accurately, I have requested that FaceBook remove my access to the data it stores about me — and to remove access to it by the other unpriveleged second-class netizens, including those around the world who search my name by traditional means.

It surely will reside on multiple servers worldwide forever, in Prineville and in Utah at least, and surely will remain available for purchase through the data brokers who profit from us, in aggregate and/or by other nefarious mechanisms yet invented, or unknown to me.

That, I cannot control.

So be it.

My life becomes lighter.

Now you may say to yourself, what about friends on FaceBook? No worries, I’m just early. You will soon have options to reconnect without disrupting your chosen platform. Until then, feel free to reach out to me. Preferably by face.
